Bruno: Not an underdog anymore

TL;DR

  • Bruno is becoming increasingly relevant, and it's no longer an underdog.
  • A true recognition: It is listed in the "Adopt" tier of the Tools section in the ThoughtWorks Technology Radar.
  • All my previous issues have been fixed, or missing features are now available. In my opinion, nothing stands in the way of using Bruno productively anymore. Any existing issues are on par with the problems I encounter in Postman or other tools.

Over the past 1.5 years, I have been repeatedly tempted to try out Bruno. Most of the time, it stemmed from my dissatisfaction with Postman's collaborative workflow, while appreciating the simplicity of Bruno's approach. I often took the time for an evening or two to port existing collections, but I usually ran into some issue that made me put Bruno aside again.

Last week, however, was different: I was browsing the ThoughtWorks Tech Radar and, as always, first checked the "Adopt" and "Hold" tiers. And there it was: Bruno in the Tools "Adopt" tier.

I felt a bit like those people who discover bands early on and then feel proud when they become famous. And I'm glad I have proof of my early adopter status: This GitHub issue.

The hype train has no brakes

That evening, I tried Bruno again, and my previously abandoned collection suddenly worked. There was even the new Global Environment Feature, which I needed to implement my authentication collection.

I was blown away and am convinced that I will use Bruno in my current and future projects.
